Sarah Steppler, Speech-Language Pathologist

Welcome! I’m glad you’re here!

Sarah Steppler, Speech-Language Pathologist

My name is Sarah Steppler and I’m a Speech-Language Pathologist. I’ve been working in the profession since 2004. I have experience with children of all ages within all areas of speech and language disorders and development. I have seen an increase in wait times both in schools and in preschool services in recent years and would love to help out. My passion is working with speech sound disorders, but would consider other areas after a consultation. Currently I have provider numbers with Blue Cross, Green Shield, and Canada Life insurance companies.

I look forward to meeting you and your family!

Services

I am pleased to provide a variety of services to help with you or a loved one’s speech and language skills. Please feel free to explore a bit of what I can provide for you, and if you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to reach out and contact me for a consultation.

  • “Speech Sound Disorders” is an umbrella term for all things speech sound related. Articulation errors, phonological processes, and apraxia are all speech sound errors that require different treatment. A comprehensive assessment by a registered SLP will provide you with an understanding of which of these errors is present and how to treat them.

  • Fluency is best known as “stuttering”. Cluttering, although less familiar, is also something that can be targeted through speech therapy.

  • If you have questions about your loved one’s speech and language skills, you may set up a consultation, screening or full assessment session. Contact Sarah for a consultation to see which option would be the best fit for you!

  • If you or a loved one has suffered from a stroke or if you have a diagnosis of Primary Progressive Aphasia, Sarah can also help with this diagnosis. Book a consultation to discuss your and your loved ones desired goals for therapy to see if this is a good fit for you!

  • Autistic clients and families, severe speech sound disorders, neurotypical clients and Aphasia can all benefit from having exposure to an alternative form of communication. This does not replace verbal communication, it is used to augment communication skills. Sarah uses AAC in her sessions with all types of clients and can also offer community support, consultation and programming information. Please contact for more information.

  • Are you a community-based program? Do you have an interest in supporting children’s communication needs within your programming? Happy to help! Please reach out if you have questions regarding how to support your program.

  • Autistic clients work on building their language skills! These sessions are play-based, but during that play we target vocabulary, communicative intent, asking and answering questions, developing the child’s interest in communicating while playing their favourite games and toys, basic concepts, Core Vocabulary. These sessions are fun for both the client and the therapist!

  • If you are not in the vicinity of Miami, have a family member with Autism who requires speech and language therapy, this session may provide you with the services you require. Here at Little Nugget, I have developed virtual sessions to accommodate your needs as a parent. Blending together skills I’ve learned from working in the school system for 15+ years I provide you, the parent, with the confidence you need in order to support your child’s language development at home. Please contact Sarah for further information.

  • These sessions are built to once again provide parents with key supports to continue to target speech sound disorders at home. The sessions are short but more frequent, if it works with schedules, and the caregivers are also empowered to support their child’s speech sound development throughout the day. These sessions have been very effective to date! Please contact Sarah if you’re interested!
